Forklifts from Briggs boost charity's recycling initiativeWe are delighted to be supporting Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, a major UK charity – and one of our close neighbours – that funds specialist equipment for disabled children by recycling everything from clothes to homewares. Newlife provides grants for equipment that can relieve pain, aid mobility, assist communication and help children with disabilities and terminal illnesses enjoy a degree of independence. It also runs the UK’s only national emergency equipment loan service for terminally ill children and funds vital medical research.

Significant revenue comes from the charity’s trading division, Newlife Trading, which recycles goods donated by major brands, such as Next and River Island, and then sells them at bargain prices through its stores. The initiative not only helps retailers to implement their environmental and social responsibility policies, but also generates funds to support the charity’s work. Newlife Trading has taken delivery of two Hyster four-wheel electric counterbalance forklift trucks, which we have supplied on a five-year lease contract with full maintenance, incorporating a flexible servicing package. The trucks will be put to work at Newlife’s hugely successful 10,000 sq ft superstore, helping to deliver a quick turnaround in the warehouse by unloading bales of clothes for recycling. As more and more businesses sign up to take part in the recycling programme, we are delighted to help Newlife Trading improve its materials handling capability so that it can continue to develop and drive the charity’s fundraising efforts
