We would like to wish Toni the very best of luck for her London Marathon this weekend.

Briggs’ Toni Collier will be running the 2018 London Marathon this weekend to raise funds for our charity partner Newlife and will be running in memory of her Dad. Toni has already raised a fantastic £2,500 for Newlife which will go a long way to help change the lives of families with disabled children all over the country.

Sunday’s Marathon will also be the finale of Toni’s 1,000 mile challenge.  Back in April 2017 Toni set herself an incredible personal challenge of covering 1,000 miles in a year.  2017 saw Toni run four half marathons and one full marathon in addition to all her marathon training.  This year she has already covered 350 miles in training and has run a half marathon, which saw her get a new PB of 2:08:59.

For the rest of the week, a sweepstake will be placed on Reception at O7 to guess the time that Toni will complete the marathon in. It’s £1 per guess and 50% of the proceeds will go to Newlife, whilst the lucky winner will receive the remaining 50%!

Please take the time to read Toni’s story below and donate via her JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/toni-collier4

Toni’s Story

“I have ran the London Marathon once before in 2012, which happened to be the day of my dads 65th birthday, so naturally, he came along to support, catching numerous tubes to take a pride spectators place along various viewing points of the course.  Those of you who knew my dad will know that he was a man of little words, however, no words were needed on this day, as I saw a look in his eyes that I had never seen before, which is one of my most vivid memories. I could tell that it was a proud moment for him and a very emotional one for me!!!”

“My dad passed away in 2013 and I have continued running in various events since then, knowing that he has always still been ‘spectating’.”

“The London Marathon 2018 is on 22nd April, which just so happens to again fall on the exact day of my dads birthday (His 71st, had he still been with us).”

“After applying in the ballot for the past 6 years for a place in the London Marathon, followed by 6 rejections, I have been lucky enough to obtain a charity place in 2018 for Newlife – The Charity For Disabled Children, through Briggs Equipment UK Ltd, as it is also their chosen charity of the year. So I will be taking this opportunity to complete a personal challenge for 2018 of running 1000 miles in a year, finishing with the London Marathon 2018, whilst raising money to help change a child’s life.”

“I have done various voluntary work in the past for this charity and by helping me to raise funds, they can continue to provide essential equipment and support for disabled children.”

“I look forward to your support and would appreciate any donations towards helping me achieve my goal and challenge for 2018.”
