Briggs recently became aware of the good work of Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow which is a small independent charity that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to the families of children who are long term and critically ill patients in The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. The charity was brought to attention through Kev Smith, one of our Field Service Managers whose sisters and niece organised an event in February that raised over £5,000 for the charity, including a £1,000 donation from Briggs.

Kev explained, “Complications with the birth of my great nephew led to my family becoming aware of the charity through the support they provided, and subsequently the reason as to why we organised an event to thank them in our own small way.

“The final amount raised through donations, ticket sales, raffle ticket sales and the auction held on the night was £5192.32, a huge amount for what started as a very modest fund-raising event.

“This will now become an annual event, with further plans to organise other ways of raising money for RMH. The real heroes were the friends, family and local businesses that donated, either prize gifts or services provided free gratis, without those the event could not have taken place.

“My family and I would like to thank Briggs for the, quite frankly, overwhelming donation. It made me immensely proud when presenting the cheque on the night that I work for a company that supports charities both nationally and locally with such generosity.“
