In the run up to Christmas 2020, Briggs Equipment provided its staff with an incentive to get involved with charities and causes close to their hearts. For each charitable act, Briggs donated £1,000 to a Charity of their choice.

Emma Attwood, a Planner in the Briggs Service team, got to work and collected a selection of dog food and treats that were donated to the Pets at Home dog rescue. (Pictured right).

The charity that Emma chose to support, was Tommy’s, which is the largest charity in the UK carrying out research into the causes of miscarriage, still birth and premature birth. Emma and her husband have both been through this horrible journey after their first baby was born sleeping in August 2020 at 16 weeks and 2 days. Dealing with this awful situation was especially difficult during the pandemic, but with the support of Tommy’s charity they have now built up the confidence to share their experience and provide advice and guidance to those going through a similar situation.

No one should face the trauma of a miscarriage or still birth alone, and the money donated by Briggs will help Tommy’s fund vital research and support expectant parents in any way they can.

Esther Speck, from Briggs Equipment’s Charity team, commented, “We were incredibly moved by Emma’s story and her bravery in sharing their experience. Tommy’s is a wonderful charity that provides incredible levels of support for parents, whilst also funding pioneering research that is helping to identify why pregnancy goes wrong. We are delighted to have been able to support them and everyone at Briggs is incredibly proud of Emma and her journey.”
