Briggs Equipment’s Toni Collier completed a grueling Ultra Marathon in September helping to raise £1,500 for Prostate Cancer UK in the process.

The ultra-marathon challenge, is a 100km (62.2 mile) trek that included an elevation climb of more than 7,120 feet, which is the equivalent of climbing Snowdon twice over. After 16 weeks of intense training, Toni completed the challenge in an official overall time of 20:55:16.

Following the marathon, Toni commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to have finished, but it’s without doubt the most difficult running challenge I have ever taken on. The first 25K was really tough, but the scenery was breath taking, which helped get you through. However, at 40K I started to struggle, but then my second wind at 60K pushed me forward to the 80K mark. From there, it was really difficult, especially as it was now night time and the terrain was very challenging in the dark.

“It’s brilliant to have completed it though, especially after so much hard work during the training process. The results came in and I finished a very respectable 96th out of 384 and 19th female out of 179. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me on this journey, including Briggs, and the money you have all raised will go towards a fantastic charity in Prostate Cancer UK.”

Esther Speck, from Briggs Equipment’s Charity Team, commented: “Congratulations to Toni on this magnificent achievement. All of her hard work in training has paid off and, in the process, she has helped raise valuable funds for our Briggs Charity Partner, Prostate Cancer UK.

“At Briggs, we remain committed to supporting charitable causes and were delighted to support Toni’s efforts with a donation.”
